KID'S CODING MARTINIQUE
Who are we?
Kid's Codage is a 2-hour face-to-face workshop per week on Saturday mornings in groups of up to 6 children. The Kids Coders find themselves in a stimulating creative environment rich in high technology. Supervised by a facilitator, they have all the material at their fingertips to allow them to express their creativity.
In a learning context adapted to their age, children aged 6 to 15 learn computer concepts and computer programming languages.
How does the course actually take place?
The Kids Coders are the drivers of their learning. There is no single program of skills to acquire. They create at their own pace and assimilate at their own pace by mobilizing and learning the concepts because they serve them in their projects. Thus, children create, experiment, test, bug, debug and bring their most brilliant ideas to life!
The animator guides the children towards projects that push them to surpass themselves, challenge themselves whatever their level of skill on the tool. The tools used are chosen because they allow to push very far and allow an infinite field of creation.
During the course, children immerse themselves in the creation of animated stories on Scratch by exploring 3 axes of creation:
1. the creation of a scenario according to a structure,
2. the creation of graphic resources with Scratch's vector drawing editor,
3. the creation of sounds from their story (sound effects, dialogues, soundscape).
Why Scratch for 6-10 year olds?
Scratch is a tool to strengthen children's understanding of programming and allow them to develop and discover multiple things. Thus, it allows children from 6 to 10 years old to discover many fields and types of creation and to use the same concepts many times in many different projects. They acquire know-how without having to relearn the uses of new software or the syntax of a new programming language each time.
Why Scratch for 11-15 year olds?
The objective of the course for 11-15 year olds is to get out of the awakening to programming and to trigger an accumulation of notions and practices in programming and digital creation.

1. KID'S CODING: Is it for fun or for learning?
The 2! Because the game allows you to explore and understand a context in a playful way. The game is used as a means of discovering and learning technologies. Thus, children are stimulated and engaged to learn while having fun!
2. Do you have to be a geek to take KID'S CODAGE lessons?
Absolutely not ! Kid's Codage courses are suitable for all children, whether they are beginners or already have notions of programming. Our pedagogical approach allows us to be present for each of them, according to their needs and expectations.
3. Do I have to have my computer?
It is not necessary to bring a computer. All equipment is provided on site.
4. Is there homework? Marks ?
No personal work outside sessions with Kid's Codage. Since the software is free and accessible, it is quite possible for your child to continue learning at home.
